Aaro and Paweena with satisfied customers.
Aaro, the owner
Why did Aaro provide us with this nice Thai Eating House?
Aaro used to work as a customs broker for many years and he lived like a fairly ordinary Estonian man. However, as it slowly started to become popular among Estonians to visit Thailand, Aaro also decided to go and have a look. Resorts, beaches, tourists, and what not. At some point, Aaro found that he wasn’t very attracted to this kind of entertaining life in Thailand. He was much more interested in genuine Thailand: normal local people instead of cocktail mixers at hotel pools, small villages instead of big smoggy cities, history and – for sure! – authentic Thai food. Suddenly, Aaro discovered that he had inadvertently rented out his apartment in Pärnu and moved to Thailand. He describes Thailand as full of “smiling and warm people, sunshine and sincerity”. And when he met Paweena, whom he married some time later, the door was basically open for them to start running Siiam, where today people can enjoy food or order take-away.
Paweena, the chef
Paweena is a Thai woman who thanks to fate’s twists and turns, met an Estonian guy Aaro who was soaking his feet in the warm sea in Thailand. They started going out, and at one point they both realized it would be a good idea to try how it would look like to live together in Estonia. Paweena, who has learned cooking from her parents and grandparents, quickly got a chance in Estonia to offer colourful and lovely Thai food to locals – she worked as a chef in several Asian restaurants until they opened their own place with Aaro, where you are a guest right now – it’s Siiam, of course. Paweena is a genuine Thai woman who always keeps smiling, and dishes cooked by her, are delicious and authentic. Our restaurant satisfies all preferences – order your food as spicy as you like it!
